Handmade Chairs by Bill Hadfield

Traditional handmade chairsI have been hand-making chairs and only chairs for over 20 years, personally fashioning every part with care. Mine are genuinely one hundred percent handmade chairs. As proof of authenticity each chair has my initials carved into it. Hand made to order - my chairs are special, individual and personal.

In my chairs you'll find the traditional and hand made chairs that display the beauty of wood and the skill of the craftsman. I use special timbers from my own unique collection including: Burr Oak, Oak, Burr Elm, Elm, Walnut, Ash, Yew, Box, Holly and Laburnum.

Children's handmade chairsChildren's chairs are made in a range of traditional styles The smoker's bow child size is now the most in demand of all the chairs made. It makes an ideal Christening present with the child's initial or name carved into it.

I make chairs for the fireside, sitting room, dining room, kitchen, hall, study and nursery.

In my workshop I use only traditional methods to make traditional chairs and my craftmanship is widely respected. I use a difficult dovetail joint because it adds a touch of class to the chair and it is more pleasing to the eye with the straight lines instead of the incongruous turned ball and dowel. I have been invited to demonstrate my skills at some of the countries most prestigious shows, most notably The Royal Show and Art In Action.

Using traditional methods I make musical theme chairs and stools.

Contact Bill for more information, prices or to arrange a visit to see his chairs for yourself. He is always willing to discuss new commissions or customisation of his beautiful wooden chairs.

Weird and Wonderful handmade chairsTake a look at my gallery site - I am also making weird and wonderful chairs, working with naturally weird and wonderful timber to create sculptural chairs, letting nature tell her story. Each chair is a unique work of art and craft, made with the skill of over 20 years experience. For these chairs I use the most amazing and rare timbers from my store collected over 20 years.  My latest dug out chairs are made from hollow trees saved from the fire.  See the stunning Burr Elm dug out chair.  I shall also be making versions for the garden.
